Royal Seafood Baza Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Peanuts in Latvian Toffees "Skolenu"
Rockaway, NY - November 13, 2002 -- Royal Seafood Baza Inc. 50-01 Rockaway
Beach Blvd., Far Rockaway, NY 11691 is recalling all of its Latvian toffees
"Skolenu" because it contains undeclared peanuts. People who have an allergy
or severe sensitivity to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening
allergic reaction if they consume these products.
Latvian toffees "Skolenu" was distributed in the New York City boroughs of
Brooklyn and Queens through retail stores.
It is packaged in a 200gr clear vacuum packed plastic pouch with code: 09.09.03
and is labeled in Latvian.
There have been no reported illnesses as of this date.
The recall was initiated after the peanut containing product in packaging that
did not declared the presence of peanuts was discovered during a routine inspection
by Food Inspectors of the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets.
Consumers who have purchased Latvian toffees "Skolenu" are urged to return
it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may
