Rajbhog Foods Inc. Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Pistachios in "Amrati"
Flushing, NY - February 22, 2002 -- Rajbhog Foods, Inc. of Flushing, New York
11355 is recalling its 14 ounce packages of the "Amrati" sweet because
they may contain undeclared pistachio nuts. People who have allergies to pistachio
nuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume
these products.
The recalled "Amrati" were distributed nationwide in retail stores.
The product comes in a 14 ounce, clear plastic container marked with a lot #03202
on the bottom of the label.
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.
The recall was initiated after a routine sampling by the New York State Agriculture
and Markets food inspectors revealed that the product contained pistachio nuts
that were not indicated on the label. The label has been corrected to reflect
this presence.
Consumers who have purchased 14 ounce packages of "Amrati" are urged
to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions
