D&V Trading Inc. Recalls "D&V" Brand and "JoJomo" Brand Assorted Konnyaku Jelly

Oakland, CA - August 15-2002 -- D&V Trading Inc. of Oakland, California is recalling "JoJomo" Brand and "D&V" brand Lychee Flavor, Mango Flavor, Assorted Flavor, Nata de Coco Konnyaku Jelly Jars and Packages because they contain the ingredient "konjac". The Consumer Product Safety Commission and the Food and Drug Administration consider this type of candy to pose a serious choking risk particularly to infants, children and elderly. Local authorities have reported at least three children's deaths from choking in the United States associated with this type of jelly candy. There have also been reports of death in other countries.

The product was distributed to retail stores in local areas of northern California. Consumers may have purchased the product through these retail stores.

Consumer who have purchased "D&V" brand and "JoJomo" brand Konnyaku Jelly are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at (510) 303-6156.
